  • St. Andrew the Apostle is delighted to welcome your child to our parish family through the Sacrament of Baptism!

    Baptisms are held on the 1st & 3rd Sundays each month (with some exceptions during the year) at 2:00 p.m. in the Holy Family Chapel. Please call the Parish Office at (703) 817-1770 to make arrangements.

    Baptism Classes are held on the third Friday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Padre Pio Room at the parish. This class is REQUIRED for parents who have not previously attended a baptism preparation class. Please register for the class by email to [email protected] or by calling the Parish Office at 703-817-1770.

    Upcoming Baptism preparation classes:  February 17, March 17.

    Please complete and submit the Baptismal Information Form provided below to the Parish Office. This completed form along with Sponsor Eligibility Letters for your intended godparent(s) must be received by the Parish Office at least one week prior to the requested date of Baptism. A date for the Baptism will not be confirmed until ALL paperwork is received.

    Adult Baptism - Adults who wish to be baptized are prepared through our RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) Program which begins each September.

  • Godparent:  Sponsor Eligibility Letter

    Registered ACTIVE parishioners who have been asked to serve as a Baptism Sponsor (Godparent) or Confirmation Sponsor should contact the Parish Office (703-817-1770) or [email protected] and make an appointment to complete a sponsor eligibility letter in the presence of one of the parish priests. The person chosen to be a sponsor must show up in person to attest to the requirements below. 

    Please be advised that for anyone 26 years of age and older who was originally included on a family’s parish registration, your registration status at St. Andrews is now “INACTIVE”. INACTIVE parishioners are not eligible to receive letters to serve as a godparent or Confirmation sponsor. Please visit our parish registration page for details. 

    To be eligible to serve as a sacramental sponsor, one must:  
    • be baptized in the Roman Catholic Church
    • be at least 16 years old
    • have received First Holy Communion and the Sacrament of Confirmation
    • not be married outside of the church or living with a partner outside of marriage
    • attend Mass on Sundays and on Holy Days of Obligation
    • receive the Sacrament of Penance at least once per year
    • go to Holy Communion at least once a year during the Easter season
    • profess your complete loyalty and fidelity to the Holy Father
    • promise to give your full support to the person you are sponsoring by the example of your daily life
