Sacraments are a vital part of our Catholic faith. They are external signs that make real to us the invisible reality of God's grace. Baptism is the first sacrament and is the gateway to all the other sacraments.
Preparing for the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation are each two year programs.
There are typical ages that sacraments are celebrated: Baptism is celebrated as an infant; First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion are traditionally celebrated when the child is in 2nd grade; and Confirmation is celebrated when the student is in 8th grade. You should register your children in 1st and 2nd grade to prepare for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. You should register your children in 7th and 8th grade to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
However for many reasons someone may not have celebrated these sacraments at the typical age. If you have children in grades 3-12 who have not yet received any formal Religious Education and/or are in need of Baptism, First Penance, First Holy Communion, or Confirmation please see the RCIC page for more information on our Sacramental Prep program.
Adults:
Adults who are seeking to celebrate sacraments fall into a few categories: people who have not been baptized, people who have been baptized in other faith traditions and baptized Catholics who never completed the other sacraments of initiation: Holy Communion and/or Confirmation. The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the process by which to prepare for these sacraments. For more information visit the RCIA/RCIC page.
